Day 6 – Monday December 31st

Happy New Year!!!

Brad and Ben led devotions this morning referring to the book of James and encouraging us to put our faith into action. They chose this quote as our challenge for the day.

We headed off in two directions today, with one group back to Agape for skipping rope manufacturing, and the other to Laura’s home to paint a few of her rooms. Success is the word for the day, with the skipping rope team reporting that over 3000 are now completed, and the painting team finishing a double coat in all rooms with the final colour to be applied tomorrow. It was great to work with both the older Agape children and Miss Newlin and two of her teachers from her school also as part of the larger team.

We stayed on at Agape and enjoyed some volleyball, basketball, trampolines and hanging out together. From there we stopped in at Central Festival for dinner, before returning to the hotel where we stuffed and stamped another 600 envelopes for the FBR mailout.

The late part of the evening saw us enjoy a worship time together, followed by our small group study and some prayer. We prayed for Jess Newlin and her teachers as they return to the border tomorrow morning, and we prayed for our team members who start 2019 with uncertainty and changed environments from what they have been used to. Finally we trooped up to the roof of the hotel and watched the fireworks explode all around Chiang Mai. It was quite impressive. It is now 12:40am local time and there are still people all up around the town, with the occasional late burst of fireworks disturbing the peace.

Tomorrow we have two work jobs, one group finishing at Laura’s and the other doing some work at Jane’s. We look forward to more positive outcomes. We will also spend some time preparing for our teaching day in Chiang Rai on Thursday.

Happy New Year and God Bless you all,

Thai team.
