Day 10 – Sunday June 24th, 2018

Mr Kan was the designated worship leader this morning and he led us a merry dance through our team song book, combining a whole string of songs together. It was very uplifting to be sitting together with a team of students all praising God together first thing in the morning. Then Ella and Courtney F challenged us to not be complacent or fall into routines which stop us from doing the things that God would want us to do.

We spent the morning at Art In Paradise, a former shopping centre converted into a 3D art museum, and took hundreds of photos, appreciating the skills and artistic talents of the artists involved.

Then it was back to Green Lodge where we put the finishing touches on our Sunday school program, and worked on our notes of encouragement which will be shared with team members on the final few days.

But the big news of the afternoon was that we put together 500 Good Life Club bags which will be given to displaced refugees in and around Thailand. Normally this sort of effort takes about 20 minutes, but last year’s team smashed that record and set a new benchmark of 17.54 minutes. We challenged this years team to see if they could beat that time, and sorry Dante Cicchiello from Year 11, but your record from 2017 was smashed today, with this group doing 500 bags in 14.56.07 minutes. Great effort and lots of fun.

Sunday school was a big success tonight too, with all students performing their roles with very little involvement needed from staff. Angela, the regular teacher thanked the team at the end, and said how much she appreciated the work that they had done, and how she enjoyed the two week break.

We had some time in the night market tonight before meeting back at Green Lodge for small group studies. We were also blessed with a short visit and chat from David Sutherland, who is working in Chiang Dao with his family. His challenge to students included reference to Proverbs 3:5-6 and he exhorted them to trust God and seek His purpose for their lives. We have never had the privilege of listening to this David (lots of our speakers have been called David) before, but his encouragement and testimony was very timely for our team members.

Some highlights:

  • 56.07 minutes – new record for 500 Good Life Club bags. That will be hard to beat in future years.
  • Hearing yet another testimony from a missionary in Thailand, and how God’s timing had David in Chiang Mai for a conference at the same time as us.
  • More coincidences when David recognised Nathan H, having known Nathan’s mum from way back. David had seen Nathan’s fundraising running event a few months ago, but had not connected the dots before.
  • Nathan Jamieson’s highlight for the day was setting the record.

Tomorrow we are back to working at McKean and Suepnuteetum school, with the aim of working a full day to finish as many jobs as possible.

Have an awesome Monday everyone. Chase after whatever it is that makes you come alive because the world needs people who are alive.

God Bless,

Thai team.

  1. Good morning all. I saw this post from Ann Voskamp today and thought instantly of you all and how you have stepped outside your comfort zone whilst of the tour to be world changers. Amazing how God can use others who don’t know where you are or what you are doing to speak into and impact, and encourage you to keep doing what you are doing. You’re all amazing for how you are upholding the school motto – My Utmost For His Glory.
    Cheers
